Moving between painting and sculptural textiles, Oakman examines the shifting thresholds between beauty and decay, the past and the present, the delicate and the raw. This textile work, hanging on a butcher’s hook, reflects the artist’s ongoing exploration of bodily fragility and transformation. Drawing from life, Oakman engages closely with the human body, using materially rich textile pieces to probe identity, sexuality and mortality. Her practice becomes a form of inquiry: a celebration of our shared yet deeply personal human experience—of the minds and bodies we inhabit, and the stories they hold.
