Hold investigates the fluidity of identity and the illusions that sustain the self, tracing the tension between grasping for stability and yielding to transformation. Built on fractured, relief-like surfaces, Hold coheres into a legible image only from a single, narrowly aligned vantage point. From any other angle, the form slips, splintered and unstable. The piece examines the ‘shadow self’, the aspects we obscure or overlook, inviting the viewer to move, to adjust, and to inhabit uncertainty. Constructed from discarded and overlooked materials, Hold extends an ongoing inquiry into how fragmentation might be reconstituted: distortion edging toward clarity, and introspection towards structure.
