Here is the place where the dead speak. A country of blood and silence, of starvation, of abuse and violence.
As we watch a horror of genocide unfold daily on our screens, how is it that the world remains silent, frozen in inaction? How is it that protest is criminalised? That taking a stance is something to be ashamed of, afraid of? The public is blinded, polarised into political camps when there are no camps, not when it comes to the death and dismemberment of children, the elderly and innocent. When the only camps are those into which civilians are herded and allowed to starve, burn and daily die.
As the UK government prescribes protest and support of pro-Palestinian action groups as terrorism, will we fall further into silence? Will we allow the voices of the dead to remain buried beneath sand and shame?
The Dead Speak is an evening of poetry and protest, in which we give voice to the dead, restless below the shivering surface of the earth that continues to tremble beneath the seemingly endless blows of injustice. Through poetry, we offer those deprived of voice the chance to be heard.

I write these poems for them
but these words are insufficient –
they are more than a poem,
deserve more than a poem,
bleed in need for something greater
than words.
