Biography

Wilkinson’s work captures the atmosphere of a place. In-depth explorations of light, weather, and seasonal colours, create an emotive soul to his landscapes. Born in Cumbria, Donald Wilkinson studied at Carlisle College of Art, followed by the Royal College of Art where he was awarded the Andres J. Lloyd scholarship for Landscape. He continued to win numerous other awards including the Giles Bequest at the British International Print Biennale in 1974, the Pallas Prize in 1976, and the National Museum at Krakow International Print Biennale in 1980. Wilkinson’s work can be found is many public and private collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Arts Council England, British Council, National Library of Scotland, and the Paul Mellon Foundation.
