Tribambuka British / Russian, b. 1977
Tribambuka is a London based multidisciplinary artist, award-winning illustrator and animation director. Having been born in a country and city that don’t exist anymore (USSR and Leningrad) she is concerned with the themes of shifting identity, home and belonging. Being a British artist with Russian roots she processes complexities of her heritage through the lens of feminism and mythological thinking expressed in a contemporary language. Her creative identity has shifted as many times as her hometown’s, that has changed its name three times. An owner and art-director of a branding agency, senior designer at CNN, award-winning illustrator and animation director working with major international brands, and even an art-director of an indie-label - it all led her back to being an artist. Her main mediums at the moment are painting, printmaking, illustration and moving image. With 15+ years’ broad creative experience and a Master’s-level education she has been commissioned by major international brands such as CNN, NBC, Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, IntelyCare, Migration Museum and many others. Her works has been exhibited internationally and published in various printed and electronic media, as well as collected as physical artworks and NFTs by international collectors.
